Yard Sale

Image
Well today was the first day of our yard sale. We did not do too bad, about $140. Our goal is to make about $200 to buy a crib. Just one of the many baby things we need. We are both Hot and Tired. All the stuff is under tarps in the front yard waiting for the open of business tomorrow. Maybe someone will come take all the stuff in the middle of the night and leave us the money on the porch? It could happen, right? We did have some company throughout the day. My parents brought some stuff over to donate to the cause and stayed to help out, it was really nice. We also had some neighbors come over and the girls looked and looked until they found something to buy it was pretty cute the 2 older ones ended up sitting with us and chatting for the last hour or so. Jim was trying to sell them everything it was funny. He modeled the wedding tulle and blew the wedding bubbles, that actually worked the youngest girl, Cora (yep that is her name, cool huh) bought some for $0.04 don’t ask me where he

Counting Money

Image
Jim and I have been saving our change in a jar F-O-R-E-V-E-R Ok just for about 10 years or more. Jim and I started what we call our Hawaii jar before we were married. We thought we would go on our honeymoon to Hawaii, we changed that and it was great but that is another story. It is older than our mariage and we have never counted it and we have never dumped it out until tonight. We counted our pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and various other assorted change. We ended up with over $22 dollars in pennies alone. We have a yard sale tommow. We hope to make a little money, for our baby. So we needed change but we were surprised to find what we did. Here are a few pictures of us counting our money, we had a great time.

“It Seems As Though She Has Always Been Here”

As many of you may know I am addicted to blogs: I read tons and I comment on a few (probably should on more but, hey, that is me.). I love reading the stories of families that have their children home already. One common thing that I read is “It seems as though she has always been here” or some variant at some point after becoming a parent. As a first time parent I have no idea what that means. It is one of those things that I think you just have to experience to understand. Or maybe it is just me. I remember what it was like not to have pets, I can’t imagine my life without them, but I do remember. I know there are many things I can’t learn until I am actually a parent. Some part of me wants to be completely prepared for any situation and learn everything from books and others that I can. I secretly (well not a secret anymore) say to myself “when that happens to me I will do this or do that and everything will be better when it is my turn.” But then another part of me wants

Fourteen

This month has really flown by. I almost missed this post because I just could not beleive it was already the 25th. (Thanks Kim for the reminder) I hope the rest of the summer goes as fast. We have just been keeping busy doing nothing really but it seems to pass the time. We are getting there slowly but surely.

Great Gifts From an Even Greater Friend

Image
Kim has been the best secret pal. Ok, she was my only secret pal but it has been such a great year. It has really made this year fly by. We will have our little girls before you know it!! Even though, she was discovered before the reveal, I really, really had a great time. It is hard for me to believe that I found such a great friend in a gift exchange. It was fate to meet someone so like me and with such a close LID and I hope that we get to travel together to China. As it is, I know we will always be close; we already talk to each other almost every night. Kim went completely overboard on the reveals gifts but I love all of them. I really do. Ok where do I even start? I guess with the one she wanted me to open first, I love the frame with our pictures in it. I almost wish that I did not know who she was because it was such a cool surprise. Then there is the blanket that her Mom made Little Miss. It is absolutely gorgeous, I am sure it took her hours and hours. It is so heavy and yet

Operation "Make Room For Baby"

Image
It is official exhaustion has set in. We are in full swing in operation "Make Room For Baby" and so far the purging is helping eliminate our clutter. I would love to say that I am a neat freak and I have no clutter but we all know that Emily got all the clean genes. We removed the full size bed from the future kid room and we are cleaning out the other room so we can move the chest freezer. The major disadvantage to not having a garage, no place for the freezer. I reorganized all of my fabric and condensed the totes. Then I went though LM's closet to start getting it ready to stop holding our stuff and start holding hers. That room now contains several piles of yard sale stuff, that I will price this week. I hope we will be ready by next weekend. One thing we have decided on is nothing comes back in the house, what does not sell is going to the good will or St. Vincents. I will not continue to bore anyone with cleaning details, pictures will follow when we are done. In

Ready for the Weekend

Image
No big plans here. We are going to get ready for a yard sale. We need to make some baby money and some baby room!! It is amazing how much stuff we accumulate. I was going to just good will it all but I thought I would try and make a little money first since we really need to start putting some away for the adoption trip. I also am going to try to get my blankets listed on Etsy also. I am such a procrastinator. Our goal is to have the yard sale a week from Saturday so hopefully that will motivate us to get ready. I finally got rid of my head ache today. It lasted 2 days, it has been a long time since I have had one that bad. I am just glad that it went away so I can get something done this weekend. Since I have not posted any pictures in while, mainly because I have nothing to take pictures of lately, here are a few of the dogs being humilitated . I fear that until we have kids we will continue to try things out on the pups so far it has neither worked very well nor made the dogs very

I Hate Migraines

I have been arguing with a head ache all day long and the head ache is under the impression that it wants to be a migraine but I am not very fond of that idea. I finally came home from work at about lunch time, only to find out that I was locked out of the house. The problem is that I do not keep a house key on my car key and since I do not need it to leave the house I often forget them. Lucky for me, I returned my house key to my Mom from locking myself out last week and I had a car key so I went over to get the key from her. I took some Excedrin Migraine and took a nap in my semi-darkened room. I thought I was feeling better when I got up but it seems to be coming back so I sent Jim to the store for the Magic Coca-Cola. When I used to get Migraine’s regularly (I have not had one in years) that was the magic cure, a Regular Coca-Cola and 2 Aspirin. Now the scientist in me knows it is probably the Caffeine in the Soda that makes it work but for some reason Coca-Cola works better than P

More Clippies!

I came home to a small package today, Yippee. I forgot I even bought these it has been a couple weeks. They are really cute! I should have got 2 caterpillars but oh well. I also got a renewal pack for our 171H from our agency. It is time to start getting things together, we are keeping our fingers crossed that this will be the only time that we need to do this because the next time it will cost us. The goverment has so kindly decided that we can have one free renewal. I guess Jim will have to find a doctor last time he went to the University Clinic and he is opposed to going to the doctor when he is healthy, too bad. This one seems easier than the last one with all the tests and I don't think it needs to be notarized boy was that a pain.

Meteor

I forgot about the cool meteor we saw on the way home last night. Good thing I have jim to keep my memory sharp. It was so neat I have never seen anything like it. It was very bright and blue and green right before it burned out. I have see meteor showers but this was like nothing I have seen before it looked like it was coming straight down. Here is a short video I found of a similar one seen in Australia. I guess they call them fireballs.

Happy Father’s Day

Image
We went to a great Father’s Day BBQ yesterday at Jim’s sister’s house. It was just the family and it was really nice. The kids were cute and sweet as always. Uncle Awesome (Jim’s new self proclaimed title) brought bubble guns and a biggest refill bottle any one has ever seen. I think Emma and Eli will have enough bubbles to last until David is five. It was lots of good food and good fun and sorry guys for staying so late but we really enjoyed talking. Today, we are just going to hang around the house clean up a little and get ready to have a yard sale in the next few weeks. We need to get rid of some stuff and hopefully make a little money to put in the Little Miss fund.

Quote of the Day and Referrals

"I would cover myself in babies if I was cold" Why this particular comment? Well here is the background. This was in response to a news story about a baby that had a snake in the crib wrapped around her leg . It was a king snake (non-poisonous) and way too small to eat the child it was probably just trying to stay warm so hence Jim's comment. Personally I just thought the mother was scared seeing a snake and was over reacting a bit but no harm was done or could have been done by this small snake. She stated that she was having the child monitored by a pediatrician, why? because she was touched by a snake? Seems like a waste of a co-pay to me. Anyway, Jim's mind works differently; he immediately becomes the snake and wants babies to keep him warm, HUH? He then said "well in the absence of a good heat rock." We used to have a snake, she was a Ball Python named Mathilda. She did not survive the move to CA. I don't have a digital picture of her but if I fin

Cute Bows and Angry Finger

Today was another Monday. I think we should just skip Mondays, I am sure if we voted almost everyone would agree. It was actually a pretty decent day but I would not have minded sleeping an extra hour this morning. I got home to 2 packages of bows!! I went a little crazy the other night on etsy ordering hair pretties for Little Miss. I still am waiting for one. I love them all. Here are the pictures. I tried to buy ones that I had outfits to go with already. You may remember me going crazy at Gymboree with the panda clothing line. I just loved the lady bugs. I also am trying to find several sizes of red, white and blue clothing so we have a coming home outfit. I was the 600th customer at this site so she sent me the Corky bows as a prize and also these little green flower bows. That was so nice and I love them. I have see the corky bows and thought about them but I was not quite sure but they are really cute and I think I will probably get more, but Jim probably would like me to wait

Congratulations Laura!!

Laura is a teacher. Watch out for your elementary aged kids!! Just kidding, I am sure she will be great. She has wanted to be a teacher since she was in the womb, Ok maybe not that long but she is the only person I know that has been so determined and sure of her career choice since she was little. Yesterday was official graduation day in windy E-burg. We skipped the ceremony because lets all be honest college commencement ceremonies are very long and a bit boring. We picked up my Gramma and headed to my sisters for the BBQ. It was great to see Aunt Karen, Uncle Dennis and Katie, oh yeah Laura was there too. Molly did a great job putting everything together and the food was great. Thanks Molly. Here are some picture, I did warn you guys they were going on here. Five of the Granddaughters, we will get one of these with Deena one day. This one is for KyLee, Hope you are having a good summer. and then one that is just goofy. It was a good time. We then went to my parents after that and w

Mostly Just Life Stuff

Image
Going through a blogging slump, I don’t really know why I just have not found much to write about. I was inspired by Kim to buy bows last night so I spent some time on Etsy and found some that I hope are going to be just as cute as they were in the pictures. I will post those when I get them. I ordered these and this and a few more. Jim made really good progress on the back room yesterday. He did not have to work because it was raining and he was supposed to work outside. Everyone knows he is made of brown sugar right? He melts when he gets wet. Just kidding I was just as happy to have him work on that room it is impossible and if you can believe it there is a floor in there. We had not seen it for a while. So if we get time this weekend we are going to work on it some more. As soon as that room is done I can start getting Little Miss’s room ready and more organized. I want to start getting the big pieces of furniture, like dresser, crib, bookshelf, etc. We have a graduation BBQ to
