Would it just stop snowing already!

Image
Ok, you got me, it is only raining here and I love the snow so I would not mind a little, HERE.  However, in the North East it is apparently snowing a lot.  You may think that it doesn't affect us that it is snowing on the other side of the country, however our agency has documents at the Burundi embassy in Wash. DC that need to be processed and the snow is JUST NOT HELPING. Come on Mother Nature, can you give a girl a break, I know that that even after these documents are back in country it is going to take a month or 2 for review but I have had enough delays.  When is enough, enough?  Just stop snowing already.

Cora v. Glue Gun

Image
An expansion of my previous post. At one point during the weekend we went into town for a few necessities and just to get out of the house. I needed foam and fabric to recover my office chair arms. They were in bad need of repair apparently I have very heavy elbows. I wish I had taken a before picture but you will just have to do with the after picture.  So after braving the fabric store where all the crazy people work.  Seriously, they are all nutso, the girl that checked us out was still talking to as we got into our car and drove away.  And get this she was talking to her self about her poor use of the English language, WTH? Anyway back to my project to save my elbows from the injuries of poorly cushioned arm rests. I decided that hot glue would be an appropriate alternative to staples (sounds innocent enough, right?). Now here is the thing about hot glue, it is HOT, this coupled with the fact that our hot glue gun is like 15 years old and has only a hotter than molten rock set

Injuries

Image
I have lots of wonderful things to post about from this weekend but it will have to wait.  Last night while looking for a movie to watch I banged my head on the corner of the cabinet, I have a nice goose egg from that incident and have been fighting a head ache ever since.  Then today while attempting a Martha Stewart renovation of my office chair (pictures later) I burned my right index finger with the hotter than lava glue gun.  So I am typing quite slowly with out the use of that finger which is sporting a nice white blister.  What kind of evil crafts was that gun made for, I mean really what in the world is something that hot used for?  I think my next crafting purchase will be a nice low temp glue gun and make our current glue gun an appointment with the landfill. Hope everyone had a great weekend, even with the injuries I would give this weekend a thumbs up.

Color Me Home

Image
We opened up the Color Me Home Blog a couple of days ago but with all the new Auntie excitement I have not posted yet.  So here it is!  I am going to steal an excerpt from Jim's blog because he describes it so well.  This is our first coloring book and it has a theme. Our theme is "Under the Sea." We feel that sea creatures give a greater opportunity for color choice and creativity. You will find all manner of sea creature! Fishes of every shape and size! Crabs, starfish, and sea horses also complement this book. There are twenty-five pages for your little one, or you (we promise to tell no one), to color! We have also designed the cover to be colored. Jim has drawn all the pictures including the cover and I am so happy with the way it turned out.  We hope to have a few different themes in the next few weeks but we are starting with the Under the Sea book.  you can see a couple examples of the books and the drawing on the Color Me Home site. We need about $6500 to co

Then and Now

Image
I had a little fun scanning a few pictures yesterday, here are the results. Holding his first daughter and his first granddaughter.  Sorry Dad, someday it will be a boy (although I get the feeling you are not complaining :0).  Like Mommy Like Daughter.  I think there is a bit of resemblance in there (Molly is on the right according to Mom) PS. stay tuned for a post about our newest fundraiser, check out color me home if you can't wait.

You Know What They Say About Plans...

Image
Well, neither do I, but I know plans are made to be broken, just like rules right.  This Little one was having none of the waiting until Monday, oh and for the record I am so glad she didn't. So I got a call about 7 am Saturday morning from my Mom, Molly was in labor and in the hospital.  I laid in bed not being able to go back to sleep for about an hour and called my Mom back when I got up.  Molly was progressing and they were headed up to E-burg.  I called Emily as we had decided to drive up together.  The feeling I got was that the baby would be born any minute.  By the time Emily got here is was about 11 or 12 and we headed to the hospital to see Molly.  All day we thought it was going to happen any minute.  We visited we left we came back we tried to do the cross word, we left again and came back, we waited and waited and waited.  We learned new medical terms like "Great", "wonderful", "it should be soon" and "it won't be long now"

Plans

I am so ready for the weekend!  I am taking a much needed day off on Monday, Jim has it off also for Presidents Day.  So here is the schedule for this much needed 3 day weekend.  Saturday, clean house and put together a project for a new fundraiser.  I think we will be able to debut this new project really soon!  I am so excited about it.  I think you will be too but you will have to stay tuned for the big reveal! Sunday, we are probably going to go to the zoo.  Jim and I both love the zoo but have not been in a very long time.  The nearest one is in Seattle so we will make a fun day trip out of it. I have avoided it in the last couple years because it made me sad to go to the zoo knowing that I would rather have a child with us to share the experience.  I truly hope that this will be the last time that we go to the zoo with out a little person in tow.  We need a day trip to get away and relax.  I hope it is a nice day but even if it is raining we will have a good time in the dampn

Need A New Header

Image
I am so ready for a new header on this blog but being creative and coming up with something all on my own has been a challenge.  I have entered Diana's contest on Custom Blog Designs and I so hope I win! The gift certificate would cover a new header!  Then I could leave the creativity up to someone else!! I already have a new name picked out since Waiting for Little Miss Whats Her Name no longer accurately describes this blog.  So if I win you may see a new blog header over here and if I don't win you may see a new blog header but it won't be as cool as if I would have won ;0). If you want to win a gift certificate for yourself (or you could win and donate it to me, yep, that would work too!!) then head over to Custom Blog Designs and enter.

Where Have I Been?

Image
The answer is no where.  I spent the entire weekend either in bed or in a recliner doing nothing.  I went to the doctor on Wednesday to get that annual physical every girl looks forward to.  I also needed her to sign another paper for the adoption, which by the way she is getting pretty confused by.  She wanted to know what happened to all the other ones that she had signed.  I love explaining over and over again that we screwed up and the adoption is taking way too long.  Anyway, on Wednesday I was at the doctor and healthy, Thursday however I ceased being healthy.  I got a bad as in could hardly swallow with out tears sore throat and a nose that just would not stop running.  I ended up going home early from work and heading to bed.  I made it into work on Friday but probably should have stayed home, oh well.  Then the rest of the weekend was spent in my PJs and on cold meds regularly.  It was so so so so much fun, I know it could have been worse but it was still a crummy weekend.

Hair

Image
Several years ago I stopped cutting my hair, I get small trims and cut my bangs but for the most part I have not had a change is style or a shorter length for quite some time.  I made a pact with my self to let it grow and not get it cut until I got pregnant.  That was when we were still trying fertility treatments and thought that it was only a matter of time. I have had long hair for a very long time and thought if I was able to grow it a few more inches I would be able to donate it to Locks of Love or some other similar organization. Little did I know how long I would let it grow.  When we decided to adopt I kept going and said I would cut it when I became a parent as pregnancy was no longer a likely option. Lately, I have been getting sick and tired of my hair.  I can do nothing with it except pull it into a ponytail, braid or clip.  It is even getting too much for the clip.  It take all day to dry naturally and it is heavy and is getting in my way.  I never thought I would have
