Have You Seen This Sock?

Image
Ok so far I have showered, done the dishes, started laundry, made tea and drank 3 cups of frakin coffee. I then went to pick up the living room and discovered something was missing. I got these fuzzy socks for Christmas and last night my feet were cold and fuzzy socks sounded so wonderful. After a few hours my feet were warm so kicked them off and left them on the living room floor when I went to bed. So when I started picking up shoes and socks you would think that there would be 2 socks on the floor. Nope, only one sock to be found. I have a strange feeling that the other sock has been lovingly buried in the back yard by this angelic soul. Yes, the one annoying trait that our almost perfect dog has is that she likes to carry our stuff out the dog door. Just the other night Jim caught her with the fish food who knows where that would have ended up. I went out there and I don't see the sock so I assume it is probably hidden somewhere very safe. Some people have gremlins we have a g

Happy Friday!

Image
I am so happy it is Friday and one reason is that I don't have to work today. I took a vacation day just because. I have been saving up my vacation in case we go on that adoption trip so i have 3 weeks just hanging over my head. I am supposed to use them by June but i am hope they let me carry a little bit over. One reason is that I don't think I could take all 3 weeks even if I wanted to. So I took a mental health day and I plan on doing whatever strikes me! I might sew, I might organize my sewing room, I might sit and watch Hulu all day. Jim cleaned up the house for me yesterday, have I mentioned he is wonderful, so that I don't have to be stressed about relaxing in a messy house. There are things that could still be done but hey we are talking about us here we will never have a spotless house. Emily got the lions share of the clean genes and then Molly and last and severely lacking is me, some might say I am cleaning challenged. Anyway I am happy just not to be at work.

The New Toy

Image
Yesterday Jim and I went into town. We had a $5 coupon for best buy and I wanted a CD that I could not download on my Zune for some reason. After watching Donna's Video of Lauren I just had to have the Dixie Chicks Lullaby in my collection. We then went to Old Navy because they sell the best dog toys in town. Toby's latest was getting a bit ratty. We got him 2 new toys (one for now and one for later) and I swear he knows the moment that we walk in the door that we bought him something. Now you may thing we are cruel because we only seem to buy Toby toys and not Gypsy but Gypsy just does not play with toys we have tried and she won't touch them. So she got a cookie, instead. Toby does not let that toy out if his site or smell. It was too funny he got in bed with me last night while I was watching Amazing Race and burrowed under the covers with the bird on top. Jim came in and saw the toy on the bed and throw it in the hall with out saying a word. Toby came out from under the

Catching up

We had another busy weekend, well I had a busy weekend. Jim's weekend was slightly less busy and fun filled. I know I have not posted since Wednesday but I have not had much to post about and then I got super busy. Friday night Jim and I had dinner with some old/new friends. Jim recently got back in touch with a couple that he went to high school with. So old to him but new to me. It is funny how it takes a site like facebook to make you realize that you live across town from people. So we were invited to dinner and we had a great night of conversation and getting to know each other. And their 2 adorable kids. Jim and Jacob had funny trying to stump each other with airplane questions. I think Jake will be studying up for the next time we get together. Then Saturday was my sister Emily's Pampered Chef party so I picked up my mom and Grandma A and headed to her house. I bought a few fun things for the kitchen and plan to have a party myself in April, so if you live near by you ma

Pork Chops and Apple Sauce

Image
No, not a Brady Bunch marathon that is what I made for dinner tonight. I am on a kick to make some new dinners and eat at a table. I really want to have family dinners with our kids but I kinda put it off think we would just start that when the kids come. Well no kids came and then they still did not come and look still no kids. So I started looking up some recipes and I found the 30 minute Rachel Ray meals site. She has a few videos of her shows and although I hate to say it, she kinda annoys me, her recipes look quick, easy and different that what we normally eat. I am always looking for a bit of a change. So I got some pork chops and apples and the result was YUMMY. Sorry no pictures Jim gobbled everything down too quickly. Ok so did I. I added some craisens to the apple sauce and that was a nice addition, but next time I would half the apple sauce portion of the recipe. We had enough apple sauce for 10 people. It was good Jim suggested we get some ice cream and make i

Another Busy Weekend

Image
We had a good weekend. Nothing exciting happened but it was relatively productive. Saturday we went out to check out carpet cleaners. I have put off getting one because we have no place to store it. But we need one and we'll just have to find a place. So we ended up with a Bissel. Then I came home and started laundry, worked on a pattern I got last weekend and cleaned up a bit. I roasted a whole chicken for dinner with lemon butter and garlic. It was so good. Jim added a salad and we had a great Valentines Day dinner. But can I just say something here about whole chickens. It has been a while since I made a whole one we prefer to buy ours frozen in pieces, it lasts longer that way. Did I just buy the wrong type or do they not put the "parts" in a little paper bag anymore? I am sorry to all you lovers of internal chicken organs but GROSS. That is the last thing I want to reach my hand in and find floating around in there. I am sorry but I will not be eating any blood filte

Thursday Thursday

Image
It has been kind of a dull week. Not much going on. I am excited for the weekend. Why you may ask? No particular reason at all. We have no plans except to work on the house a little and do some of the stuff that got neglected last weekend, while searching for Sully and dismantling our washing machine. Sully is doing great as you can see he is on my back right now, I am on my tummy typing this in bed, and he is quite comfortable. We took his collar off when he came home on Monday and he has not touched his stitches. Yesterday I opened the dog door so he can go in and out but I think he is still a little cold with no fur so inside he has been staying. We are so thankful to have him back, oh and since they are our kids we did ground him for a couple days, no going out with his alley cat friends. Jim got the part for the washer and fixed it tonight. Yippee!! No leaks! So I have some laundry to catch up on this weekend. I looked at new ones tonight but I think we need to pay a couple things

The Lost Found Us

Image
We woke up to a white and black spot on Sully's pillow and it was Sully!! I thought I heard a meow about 4:30 but then I thought I was dreaming but Jim found him sleeping in his pillow this morning and woke me up with a Kitty!! His cone collar was a bit beat up and dirty and his stitches are a little red but not dirty. Other than that he seems fine. He is eating like crazy right now. I am sorry happy that he found his was back I was really not sure we would find him. Thank you for all your kind words last night I was feeling pretty down.

Lost Cat

Image
I know most people that read my blog do not live close but our cat ran away yesterday. It was a crazy set of events that led to him getting out. Jim was cleaning up in the bedroom and he was under the bed. we have been keeping the laundry room door shut because we have a dog door in there and he is supposed to stay inside. The washer started to make a funny noise so i went to check it, at the same time Jim pulled something out from under the bed and spooked Sully. Before either of us knew what was going on he was out the back door. He has not come back. He had surgery Thursday and they shaved him because of his mats so I am really worried since it is only in the 20's at night and he has very little hair. On top of that he had his cone collar on when he got out so i am worried that he got stuck somewhere. we have been out looking for him several times yesterday and today. I even made flyers to take to the neighbors and tonight I posted a lost and found ad on Craigslist. I r

Visitor of the Week and a Puppy Cat

Image
Yippee, I was visitor of the week over at Custom Blog Designs . I love to stop in and see what cool things Diana is up too and I am honored to be visitor of the week. Even though it has taken me a week to get this posted, maybe for me she should call it visitor of last week. There is even a prize to go with it, woo hoo! I am all about prizes! Although I am not all about decisions so I am not sure what I am going to choose. So head on over and check out Diana's Designs , maybe you will be visitor of the week next week. Diana's also got a great sense of humor and created a little award for my dear hubby but he has threatened me with bad pics of me on his blog if i post it so since I live with him I better be good. But I will give you a hint Super Cute Bows were involved. We have often referred to Sully as our puppy cat since he is a cat that tend to think he is a dog. We got Toby and Sully about a month apart and they have been best friend ever since. Apparently the Dog traits ar

Awards

Image
Ok I know it is about time. I have great friends out there and they have given me some great awards in the past couple of months. Things have been kinda hectic and I have not gotten around to posting them so I thought I would post all together. Here is goes in no particular order. I got this award from Kim , Margaret , Amy and Jody . All three of these ladies are amazing and I feel privileged to be able to follow along on their journeys through life no matter what direction they may take. I got this award from Kim , I have to agree that she is pretty FAB. I never thought I would meet one of my very best friends online. We had our "Internet date" last March and we hit it off just as well in person. And then ages ago, Diana gave me this award. Diana is a wonderful Friend that I met through Kim. I think all of her blogs deserves this award so I was really honored to receive this. Ok so for the rules and giving these awards out. I think and hope that you are just supposed to pa

Happy Birthday Mom!

Image
Happy Birthday Mom! I love you. I know as a daughter I should say something really touching that would bring every one to tears but we all know that is not me. I just want you to know that I really appreciate you being the wonderful mom that you are and always being there for me no matter what.

In Review

Image
Finally we are in review at the CCAA. There have been rumors for months that some agencies were in review but the CCAA had not made the official announcement. We got word from our agency today that the dossiers logged in to CCAA in April 2007 are in review. Yippee that is us! For those not in the adoption process here is a brief explanation. Dossiers are sent to the China Center of Adoption Affairs by our agency. They are then logged in and given that all important date that determines our place in line. At that time they are briefly looked over to make sure they at least look complete but they are not officially reviewed yet. Some time in the future the dossiers are moved the review room where they are given a complete examination to make sure that we meet all of the qualifications, if there are any questions those are sent to our agency and we have a chance to respond. If there are no questions, our dossier moves on to the matching room where it waits for our turn in the line to come

Jim's Day

Image
I kept teasing Jim all day that it was his day like the the wedding was my day and this was his. But I think he did have a really good day Saturday. We attended the Decommissioning of the USS Kitty Hawk. It was the first of the Super Carriers and it was Huge. I was a bit disappointed that the ceremony took place on the hanger deck and not the flight deck I really wanted to see it or get a brief tour of the ship but I guess the ceremony was mainly for the sailors that had and were serving on the ship and they have all been on the flight deck (at least that is my humble, civilian opinion) To me the whole thing seemed like a big funeral, and I guess in a way it was. The speaker all talked about fond memories of serving aboard and of all the good people that have been on the ship, and afterwards there were refreshments. the displays that they had set up in the other hanger deck were really neat and I was not completely bored. Actually, I kinda enjoyed it but don't tell anyone, he he. A
