Getting Prepared

This Sunday we went to North Bend for some Retail Therapy. Gypsy tried to tag along but they just don't let Golden Chowyote's in the stores, bummer she would have enjoyed it. Jim needed some pants for the school year and I need a few unmentionables (well I guess I just mentioned them, :0) They were also having kick ass sales at the children's stores so I hit those as well. We got David and Eli covered for Christmas, sorry sis you will just have to wait for the fun gifts :0). I already have Emma covered. We got a few good deals for both BB and Little Miss. It was a fun day even though it rained most of the day, but hey were east sider's so we soaked up the moisture like cacti.

Here are a few of our treasures.

We ended the adventure by driving up to Snoqualmie Falls. Jim proposed to me 11 1/2 years ago there. It has been a few years since we visited and it was nice.

The rest of the weekend was spent being a bit lazy. It has been great! I so needed a weekend like this.

Saturday, I started going through some clothes for BB and thinking about packing. But the Big question is what do i need to take. He is about 16 months old now and will probably be about 18 months when we travel. I have been buying 18-24 month old sizes but I have no idea what a baby that age needs in terms of clothing. So if any one has any ideas or even better yet a packing list that they would not mind sharing I would really appreciate it. I am worried that unlike China there not many places to buy clothes in country but I don't know. This is where that Pioneer part of our adoption really comes into play.

Please Email Me if you have any suggestions for packing for a 16-20 month old baby boy that we have no measurements for. I need help!

Just re-found your blog! How exciting to have BB so close to coming home!!!

I would take size 9-12 months, 12-18 months and 18-24 months! A few of each!!!

The nursery looks so lively and colourful!

What to pack? That would be a problem. You'll really be winging it, as the saying goes.
Pack layers and things that are adjustable. You have no idea if he's super long or petite (can guys be petite or is it short-waisted?) Plus do you have any idea of the weather? Pants can be rolled and a lot of them have the elastic adjustable waist anymore. You might want to get one of those snap extender thingies for onesies in case he's really long. I just googled this: http://pricelessbabyaccessories.com/tabs/baby_products.html They would also be good to have on hand if you are doing cloth dipes (when you are home) which tend to take up a lot of room in the bum!

Cute stuff you bought. I love the shirt that says Instructions Not Included. That is the truth!! I didn't notice that giraffe rack before. Too cute!

My recommendations Adjustable and Rompers (it doesn't matter if they are a little too roomy). I would take 12-18 and 18-24 months. Shoes were tougher. I took a 4, 5 and 6 and the 5's are what fit Graeme...he was 2 1/2 though. I did bring more outfits than most people do for both trips. I was so glad that I had on the first trip with Lily Wen since she threw up for the 27 hours of time it took us to travel home. (If only, I had packed extra carry on clothes for me). I decided at the time that the trip home was MY LABOR! Suggestion - Pack extra carry on clothes for you too! And in the end, it really doesn't matter. You will have your BB. Lily Wen spent her last flight in her diaper only wrapped in a blanket. She had soiled her second to last outfit on the jetway and I had one more outfit for her to wear to meet the Family waiting at the airport. She looked amazing and charmed everyone waiting! Even though I was exhausted and dirty and smelly, I am glowing in those pictures! I am so excited for you!

Sorry, no advice.
Smile, be happy and hug your hubby! The process can be exciting, happy but trying. Smile.

Let's see...where to start:

I love the giraffe's on the wall. Love them! Need to steal them, but don't have a "safari" room. darnit.

The clothes are adorable - but I have to say, the glasses win. OMW.

I think for the sizes, it really depends on his weight. Because you know, Quint is only 23 pounds, and most kids his age are quite a bit more. He was always small. In fact, at almost 2 he's still wearing some things in 12 months. Shhh, don't tell him I told you. So if there's a way to get a weight for Baby B - you will be better off to make your decision. If I had it to do over again, I would have taken more clothes - and what we had was mostly too big for him. He was tiny!
